January is upon us, a new month of a new year. And there will be a few new things going on that are worth looking forward to:
- Macworld is happening. Rumours of new Macs have been circulating for a long time, and seeing how I really should buy some new hardware, I’m curious what’s going to come out.
TrueCrypt 5.0 will finally bring Mac support. World, rejoice! TrueCrypt will then be able to work on all three major platforms, making it the tool of choice when it comes to encrypted volumes. I am looking forward to using it to safely carry data on USB pendrives - and still be able to access it no matter where I am.- iPhone firmware 1.1.3 is looming, with some really nifty new features like application drag-and-drop, Google Maps geolocating [via cell-towers], officially-supported pagination, SMS to multiple recipients and more. This I’m sure will be linked to some announcement at Macworld about the iPhone SDK. Unfortunately, this also means the cat-and-mouse games of hackers and Apple will resume, in order to free the phone.

Ohh, I’d like some new hardware too … if only I could afford it. I’m anxious to see if they will be releasing that oft-rumoured ultra-portable MacBook. And if the iPhone will finally be (officially) released in Canada!
I’m most likely going to use my ADC student developer discount, although you can get some sweet deals if you buy stuff from the US… unfortunately the legality of the latter method is questionable.
I’ll take a look at the ultra-portable if one comes out, otherwise the smallest MBP I can find I guess.
