the brief

October 18th, 2007

A few of the new and old, coming right up:

“We do not permit you to view such code since we consider it to be our intellectual property protected by the copyright laws.”

What? HAHAHAHA!!! Somebody give me the oxygen, I might faint out on this one.

This to show exactly the level of corruption that seeped into the ISO when Microsoft was trying to push their OOXML format in. Good job guys, you’ve managed to render temporarily ineffective the very forum everybody likes to please. I know standardization is not really what you guys are good at, but this move has taken the cake thus far.

Yet another pathetic attempt from the MAFIAA to pull in some chips. These guys should send their lawyers to impoverished nations, they seem to be able to conjure up revenue streams out of nothing

Well, the MAFIAA manage to pull it off again. After successfully getting the Swedish police to violate a number of rights in the Pirate Bay case, after pressuring the Russian government with threats of not permitting acceptance in the WTO, now they’ve bullied Canadian representatives into bringing to table a sister to the dreaded DMCA. Especially now, when the loonie outranks the greenback, this will really pay off for the cartels’ holiday resorts. Cold in Canada, always warm in the Caribbean.

Anything goes, as long as it is in English (proper, if possible). Try to keep the conversation civil, in the interest of Ideas.
